» HISTORY
The
year—1974.
A school was born in a
small town Bandel, a very old Portuguese colony, and 40 km away from
Kolkata, West Bengal. India.
There were six
children. They were unlike other children. The community deprived them of
their personal, social and emotional needs and rights. They were kept out
of sight.
The meaning of life
was very different for them.
A group of social
activists felt that the society was self centred, indifferent and not
just to all its members. They had neither any resource nor any
technical expertise. But they had a dream. A dream of a more sympathetic
society, just and inclusive of all irrespective of the state of their
abilities.
They started a school.
A school for deaf children.
